22A - Elevator Pitch No. 3

I thought what was really important feedback from last pitch was the fact that many people said that my voice was louder and more projected. I really appreciate the constructive criticism that everyone provided and I hope that my third attempt is my best yet. Based on the feedback, I made sure to wear nicer clothes and talk for a longer period of time. I think it is very important to make sure that you describe your product well but dont drone on about it too much and lose the audience's attention. I think the sweet spot is right around 30-45 seconds before the audience assumes that you're talking too much about your product.

21A - Reading Reflection No. 2

1.) The general theme of the book is centered around social media marketing tips that will help you grow your followers and social media pages to make the most of marketing opportunities. Guy Kawasaki is a genius entrepreneur that began his rise to fame at Apple marketing the Macintosh line of computers that went on to be extremely successful. There is a lot to learn in this book about marketing and in particular social media and technology that could prove to be extremely helpful in the future. 2.) The book really enhanced all of the assignments in ENT3003. I really thought that the tips and advice that Kawasaki talked about were really similar to the methods that we were currently learning in class such as professionalism, cater to your user, know your audience. Running a social media blog is very similar to starting and running a business. It is important to know exactly what your business is doing and who your business is targeted at so that you can post content that exactly cate...

20A - Growing Your Social Capital

Industry Expert: My neighbor Kyle Resnik 1) Kyle is an app developer for a small firm in Winter Park, FL. His current project is to develop an app for students that should rival something like blackboard or canvas. He has produced many other small apps before and I think he could create a great app that I envisioned. He also has a lot of expertise in database management so that he could run the backend operations of the company that would tie the app to bank accounts and financial services. I walked over to Kyle's house and asked him about what exactly he did and what he plans to do in the future. I pitched him my app idea and he really liked it. He thought that my app could be very successful with the right team and the right business model. I really appreciated Kyles honest feedback about the potential of the app and the areas where the app might not be all the way thought through yet. Domain Expert: My friends mom Theresa Colling 1.) Theresa is a financial planner at Suntr...

19A - Idea Napkin No. 2

My name is Michael Burns Cullen and I am a third year Information Systems major at the University of Florida. I am a hard worker who is extremely interested in technology and business intelligence. I have experience in data analytics and the food service industry. I think this business will be a major part in my life and I think it has major potential to be a major source of income for me and my family. I am devoted to making this app happen and I won't stop working at it until it is done. Basically what I am offering to customers is financial flexibility due to savings. My app is designed to save college students money for small trips or medium expense items that wouldn't normally be financially obtainable for a college students. When you're in college, it can be extremely difficult for anyone to save money because of so many surprise expenses and the increasing expenses of school and education in general. The app will be offered mostly to college students. My target d...

18A - Create a Customer Avatar

Image
I think my stereotypical customer would be a college student who has a bank account and spends a decent amount of money regularly. They would not be too frugal of a person because then the app simply would serve no purpose. The app would also probably mostly cater to non business students or students who were really unfamiliar about how to budget money. They probably watch T.V. shows such as The Office, Rick and Morty and Silicon Valley. My age range of subjects is probably most close to 18-29, these people are most likely to be wanting to save up money to do road trips, spring break trips and concert tickets. I think that the app will mostly appeal to active individuals who want to get experiences and to see a lot of the world. This app will help them to save money to make those wants into a reality. I think that I have a lot in common with my customer base and I really want to connect with them. I think it will be easy to connect with them because I will know exactly what type of per...

17A - Elevator Pitch No. 2

I thought some of the most important advice that I received was to project my voice more and to be clearer when speaking. I think it is important to sound excited and interesting to anyone listening in order to actually effectively sell your product. The main thing I changed this time about my pitch was the fact that I switched locations of where I was gonna give the speech. I moved to a more open room with better acoustics that allowed my voice to boom a little bit more. I also made sure to take the video earlier during the day so that I would have as much energy as possible and so I can really connect with my audience. I think that with the right words and right amount of energy, anything is possible when it comes to public speaking or making a good first impression that will convince someone to buy one of your products.

16A - What's Your Secret Sauce?

1.) The five things that I think make me unique are:  - Persistance: I am a very persistent person and I like to think that I usually get what I want when I set my mind to it. I think that sometimes this can be overwhelming for others but in the long run I think it will pay off in a lot of ways.  - Passion: I am really passionate about some things including family, friends and my future. I really want the best life for myself and I will stop at nothing to get it. My passion is what drives me to get out of bed and start my day every day.  - Patience: I have been told my many that I am a very patient person and I realize how this pays off in my life. Many aspects of life feel tedious and hard but with the right amount of patience and waiting, good things always seem to come. I think that patience is the most important attribute of anyones personality.  - Relaxed: I am usually a very relaxed person who doesn't like confrontation or others arguing. I think this i...

15A - Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 2

1.) The three people that I interviewed all seemed very interested in the app idea. It is important to remember that there is a strict demographic that the app is trying to target and that is college age students or young adults fresh out of college. All three people that I interviewed fell into this categorization and they all agreed that an app like this would greatly benefit them. The unique financial planning aspect of this app is what sets it apart from the other apps like it in the same marketplace. It is extremely important to understand your demographic when designing an app targeted at a very specific group of people. 2.) In the questions that I asked my interviewees, it became increasingly apparent that the main need for these people was simplicity of use. Busy college students want an app that will easily satisfy their needs without being overly complicated and a pain to set up and use. I think a simple interface with few settings and buttons would work best to cater to th...
